ERC teams distribute 25 tonnes of food aid in Yemen’s Red Sea Coast

UAE is continuing its efforts to provide shelter and food aid to the people in Yemen’s Red Sea Coast area. Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has dispatched humanitarian aid convoy of 25 tonnes of food and shelter materials to Al Alili camp in Khawkhah District in Hodeidah Governorate. Aid also includes mobile clinics which are equipped with medicines and medical supplies.

The convoy distributed the aid upon reaching the camp that houses 1200 families. The medical teams from mobile clinics examined patients suffering with ailments like fever, diarrhoea, malaria, skin rashes and respiratory diseases. Mobile clinics also gave free medicines to people for communicable diseases and performed tests for coronavirus and cholera.

ERC’s Humanitarian Officer said that the efforts of distributing medical aid to people in the camp are directed to ease out their suffering. He also noted that ERC has been distributing food parcels to the camp residents regularly for last four years now.

The people who received aid thanked the humanitarian efforts of ERC. In the Red Sea Coast area ERC teams have distributed around 33,000 food parcels since beginning of 2020. The efforts have benefitted 231,000 people till now.
