The UAE sent a fourth aid plane to Damascus to support Syria in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The aid plane carried significant quantities of COVID-19 vaccines to assist the Syrian health sector in overcoming the repercussions of the pandemic.

The aircraft was sent by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) in coordination with the Syrian Red Crescent Association to support local precautionary measures aimed at containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country.

With the crucial vaccine shipment, the ERC aims to protect frontline workers in Syria's health sector, critical patients, people with chronic diseases, and people in displacement camps from the global health crisis.

In recent months, the UAE has boosted its efforts to help and support friendly countries across the world in overcoming the effects of the pandemic and ensuring rapid recovery.

This medical aid has come in line with UAE's international humanitarian response to the pandemic. It underlines the various initiatives launched by the UAE under the directives of the leadership to support international efforts to combat Coronavirus spread.

This aid also highlights the UAE's keenness in enhancing the capabilities of communities in need to address various health and humanitarian effects of the pandemic. At the same time, it helps in preventing infections among residents and reducing the spread of the virus in various countries.

The vaccine doses sent by the UAE will help in curtailing the spread of the virus amidst the emergence of new variants in a number of countries.
