UAE sends aid shipment with COVID-19 vaccines to Belarus

The medical aid will support the efforts of the health sector in Belarus in combating the pandemic

The UAE on Tuesday sent an aid plane containing 11,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the Republic of Belarus with the aim of supporting the country's efforts in curbing the spread of the virus. The UAE sent the medical aid shipment through its humanitarian arm Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) to ensure greater protection of vulnerable groups in Belarus including the elderly and those with chronic diseases against COVID-19.

It comes as part of the UAE's global humanitarian efforts to combat the spread of the pandemic across countries in need.

The medical aid will strengthen the preventive and precautionary measures implemented by Belarus to tackle the pandemic, particularly after the emergence of new mutant strains. It will further accelerate the post-pandemic recovery process in the country.

The UAE is working continuously to support the efforts of other countries to overcome the repercussions of the COVID-19 outbreak. Through these months, the UAE has stood hand-in-hand with various countries to enhance their healthcare capabilities by ensuring rapid provision of COVID-19 vaccines.

Since the beginning of the global health crisis last year, the UAE has emerged as a pioneer with its humanitarian efforts to protect all sections of society. It has provided necessary medical and food aid to support many countries and boost the health and social systems against the pandemic.
