UAE reunites Australian family stuck in Sri Lanka due to COVID

The UAE has helped reunite an Australian family that was trapped in Sri Lanka for almost 30 days owing to a lockdown aimed at managing the COVID-19 epidemic with the father who has lived in Dubai for the past 15 years, demonstrating its principles of human solidarity.

The family was unable to return to the UAE when the lockdown began while on vacation in Sri Lanka. The UAE officials acted quickly and worked with Sri Lankan officials to help the family return home. The family, which included a 40-year-old mother and her three children ages 11, 10 and 7, was met by a medical team upon their arrival at Dubai International Airport. All mandatory tests were conducted to ensure the family’s safety.

The mother expressed her tremendous delight at being reunited with her spouse to the Emirates News Agency (WAM). "We are thankful to the UAE government for its efforts in reuniting our family," she added. The kids were overjoyed to be back in the UAE, especially because they were allowed to return to their house in Dubai, restart their lives, and reconnect with their friends.
