UAE launches new COVID-19 mobile medical centre in Ajman

UAE authorities have opened a new COVID-19 mobile medical center in Ajman with the aim of providing various pandemic-related services, including vaccinations, to all members of the community.

Represented by medical authorities in Ajman, the volunteer-run facility has been launched under the supervision of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHP) in coordination with the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak volunteering program.

With 12 mobile units, the mobile medical center will provide the first-of-its-kind healthcare service to all members of the community. Major General Shaikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police and Head of the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Team of Ajman, recently inaugurated the facility.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Major General Al Nuaimi said that the units will provide "mobile and rapid solutions for early diagnosis and vaccinations" in various regions of Ajman. He further noted that the center will work in line with the framework of joint efforts of relevant state institutions to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Emirate.

Major General Al Nuaimi added that various plans and strategies implemented by the UAE's leadership to tackle the pandemic crisis and mitigate its repercussions have shown positive results. He hailed the medical care and treatment provided by the UAE's healthcare sector to all citizens and residents alike that helped in ensuring the highest levels of protection during the global health crisis. Al Nuaimi also credited the government’s adequate monitoring of confirmed and suspected cases across various regions and ensuring quick action to curb the spread of the virus.

He noted that the centre is motivated by the keenness of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to ensure safety and protection of all members of the community. He further underlined the continuous follow-up taken by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, to enhance the potential of the UAE’s medical sector and help the first line of defence in better serving local communities across the country.

Al Nuaimi affirmed that the UAE has been providing state-of-the-art medical care services in accordance with the highest medical standards and quality to patients in need. In this regard, he noted the newly-opened COVID-19 mobile medical centre in Ajman is equipped with the latest equipment and facilities to meet the needs of patients. He went onto hail the efforts made by Ajman's health authorities in providing the best services to patients.

Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director-General of General Women’s Union, also addressed the occasion, noting that the launch of the mobile voluntary medical centre has come in line with the keenness of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, to empower the UAE doctors to serve the community. The UAE seeks to adopt innovative initiatives in the "Year of the Fiftieth" with the aim of supporting the efforts of the country’s institutions to tackle the virus.

Since the start of the pandemic, frontline volunteers in the UAE have shown their readiness and potential to deal with this epidemic and their quick response to treat the patients, she added.

Hamad Tarim Al Shamsi, Director of the Ajman Medical Zone, also noted that all necessary arrangements have been fulfilled to operate the centre. It has already begun to treat patients in Ajman. In addition, the capacity of the volunteer medical team has also increased to more than a thousand references from all sections of society.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Al Shamsi and Abdullah Ibrahim Mohammed Abu Al Shawareb, Director of Ajman National Coordination and Response Centre, along with a number of senior officers and officials.
