Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs had a meeting with Steven Mnuchin, US Treasury Secretary. The meet was part of the Ministry of Finance's efforts to strengthen relations between the nations and establish framework for financial and economic cooperation. Diplomats from both the countries talked about strengthening relations between the sides and about the latest developments economically globally as well as regionally, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic times.

Al Tayer stressed on importance of the strategic relations and partnership between the UAE and the US, and further stressed the requirement of enhanced cooperation panning through sectors of mutual interest, specifically economic, trade and financial. He said, “The United Arab Emirates and the United States of America have a long-established friendship based on solid foundations. The Ministry of Finance is keen to strengthen this relationship by continuing dialogue and joint coordination to create new areas of cooperation that contribute to the economic growth of the two countries.”
