UAE extends passenger flights ban from India until June 14

Emirate has announced the extension of the suspension of passenger flights from India to the UAE until June 14. On Sunday, the airline issued a statement on its website, noting that passengers who have transited through India over the last 14 days will not be permitted to travel from any other destinations to the UAE.

UAE's nationals, members of diplomatic missions, and UAE Golden Visa holders have been exempted from the new protocols. However, they are required to comply with all COVID-19 protocols issued by the UAE authorities.

The airline has called on all affected passengers to contact their respective travel agents or Emirates call centres to check rebooking options and resolve other queries related to the changes.

On May 4, the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) extended the initial 10-day suspension of passenger flights from India to the UAE until further notice.

Last month, the UAE suspended passenger flights from India with effect from April 24, 11:59 pm in the wake of the deteriorating second wave of COVID-19 in the country.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, a General Authority of Civil Aviation (GCAA) official noted that the authorities are continuously assessing the situation to decide a final date to lift the suspension of flights.

"We are closely monitoring the situation in India," the official said.
