UAE emerged as a distinguished model in containing COVID-19: Official

Dr. Farida Al Hosani, Official Spokesperson for the UAE Health Sector, addressed a media briefing of the government on the latest updates related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Addressing the briefing, Dr. Al Hosani hailed the distinguished model demonstrated by the UAE in containing the pandemic and its variants. Thanking the directives of the UAE's leadership, the official underlined that the country utilised artificial intelligence (AI) to analyse relevant data and information related to the pandemic. The UAE used AI to ensure the continuity of proactive measures, including conducting extensive testing across the country.

"The health sector is continuing its efforts to achieve community immunity, by providing vaccines to eligible categories," she added.

The UAE has vaccinated 100 percent of its population with the first dose of the vaccine while 93.73 percent have received both doses to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Furthermore, Dr. Al Hosani stressed that the UAE continues to keep people's health and safety at the top priority by the provision of vaccines and booster shots. UAE's robust vaccination campaign has helped in protecting the population from the COVID-19 virus and its variants.

"World Health Organisation (WHO) studies and research have proven those who have received COVID-19 booster shots are unlikely to get a severe infection," Dr. Al Hosani explained.

In this regard, the official urged all eligible community members to get vaccinated to achieve collective immunity.

She also pointed out that the health sector has been ensuring various measures to raise the awareness of the public about the pandemic and disseminate accurate and transparent information through official platforms.

"The medical sector is stressing the importance of the cooperation between all sectors and the public's adherence to adopted health protocols and precautionary measures," she added.
