UAE dispatches medical aid to South Sudan to help fight against Covid-19 pandemic

UAE sent an aid plane to South Sudan on Monday with 7.5 metric tonnes of medical supplies to help the country in its fight against coronavirus pandemic.

The aid is said to help over 7,500 medical professionals in the region who are trying to curb the Covid-19 infection spread.

Mohamed Salem Ahmed Mosaad Al Rashdi, the UAE Ambassador to Ethiopia and Non-resident Ambassador to South Sudan commented on UAE’s humanitarian efforts saying, “The UAE attaches great importance to diversifying and expanding its relations with all friendly countries based on the principles of trust, mutual respect, and cooperation to serve the efforts of development, progress, security and peace.”

He further added, “The dispatch of medical assistance to South Sudan today comes as part of the support and protection of medical professionals as they work to contain the virus.”

Till date UAE has sent over 1100 metric tonnes of medical aid to 74 countries as a part of global humanitarian efforts. In the process over 1 million medical professionals have been supported.
