The UAE Cabinet of Ministers, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai approved the creation of the “Higher National Committee for Volunteering in Crisis Situations”.

This decision is aimed at creating a sustainable national system of water supply in times of crisis. Also, this committee aims to collaborate with all relevant authorities, individuals and institutions.

The committee will be led by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The formation of the committee goes along with the decision of the UAE government to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

Within the committee there will be cooperation of volunteers and public services at all levels, as well as for the support and coordination of volunteers and volunteer organizations.

This committee will oversee the work of all national volunteer organizations during times of crisis and will launch the Volunteers.ae platform to receive and approve requests from volunteers. It will also monitor the volunteers, ensure their health and safety, and provide them with the necessary support.

The committee will also coordinate with local governments and government agencies to consolidate volunteer campaigns in times of crisis.

The committee’s members will include H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Deputy Chairman of the Committee; Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State; Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; Mohammed Abdullah Al Junaibi, Chairman of Presidential Protocols at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs; Abdullah bin Touq, Secretary-General of the UAE Cabinet, and Obaid Al Hassan Al Shamsi, Director-General of the National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, NCEMA.
