UAE Cabinet minister Al Gergawi receives Covid-19 vaccine

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, has received the COVID-19 vaccine with an aim to encourage the nation-wide efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic. Al Gergawi applauded the foresight of UAE leadership and the efforts of multiple work teams, who came together to work towards combating the pandemic with high efficiency.

The UAE government shared the picture of Al Gergawi taking the shot on Twitter and wrote, "Al Gergawi emphasised the role of the health sector and medical personnel and their contributions to support the country's efforts to address the pandemic.”

The vaccine which is under third stage of trials was also taken by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, two weeks ago when the Arab nation granted approval for the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine. It has been developed by China's Sinopharm.

Besides Al Gergawi, other UAE leaders who took the vaccine included Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention; Obaid Al Shamsi, director general of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority; Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of Culture and Youth, and Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office.
