UAE authorities urge people to take booster shot

Uae Authorities Urge People To Take Booster Shot

In early August, UAE authorities called on people to receive a booster shot in case it has been more than six months since they took their second dose of Sinopharm or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Authorities particularly urged people in high-risk groups, including the elderly aged over 60, the disabled and those with chronic diseases, get the booster dose after only three months of receiving their second vaccine dose.

It was clarified that the booster can be either Sinopharm or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Both of these vaccines are being administered at various vaccination centres set up by the Ministry of Health and Prevention in Abu Dhabi along with DHA centres in Dubai. Furthermore, the vaccines are being administered free of charge across various public and private hospitals in the country.

People is high-risk groups can walk into any of the listed health centres to receive their booster, while others are required to book an appointment.

Previously, the UAE authorities approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children over the age of 12 and the Sinopharm vaccine for children between the ages of 3 and 17. The decision was taken after a trial involving 900 children in Abu Dhabi generated successful results.
