UAE authorities update COVID-19 rules for entry by land

The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security have updated the rules for people entering the UAE through land ports with effect from March 29, Tuesday.

As per the latest rules, people coming to the UAE, including both vaccinated and unvaccinated against COVID-19, are not required to conduct a pre-departure PCR test. However, they are mandated to undertake rapid Exponential Deep Examination (EDE). Furthermore, they will be allowed to enter the UAE only after the results of the EDE tests appear. All people are required to perform the EDE as a precondition to enter the country through land ports.

The two authorities also called on visitors to comply with the Green Pass protocol while travelling to various events, tourist places, cultural sites, and other places in the country requiring the display of Green Pass as a precondition for entry.

The recent update has come in line with the UAE government's strategy to enhance the protection of the public's health and safety and facilitate a gradual return to normalcy after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UAE is witnessing a decline in new COVID-19 infections in recent weeks due to the consistent efforts of relevant authorities in curbing the spread of the virus.
