UAE and Russian ministers discuss bilateral relations, COVID-19 response

UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on July 7 held a telephonic conversation with Russian Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov during when they held discussions over strategic relations between the two countries. As per the state news agency WAM, Sheikh Abdullah and Mantrouv shared views on various prospects of cooperation between the UAE and Russia, particularly in fields of commerce and industries.

The two leaders held talks on various issues of common interest, along with the ongoing developments in the response against the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in both countries. Sheikh Abdullah and Denis Mantrouv further laid importance on the need for international cooperation in the efforts to tackle the pandemic and to amplify joint work to alleviate the ramifications triggered by the health crisis.

During the call, the UAE minister lauded his country's diplomatic relations with Russia in view of the flourishing partnership between the two friendly countries. Responding to Sheikh Abdullah's remarks, the Russian Minister stated that his country has been working on strengthening the strategic cooperation with the UAE across all fields.

Last month, the UAE sent aid planes with medical supplies to Russia's Dagestan and Grozny to boost the country's efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical aid was aimed to support the thousands of healthcare professionals in Russia in their efforts to contain the impact of Coronavirus.
