Step by step guide to Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination in children aged 12 & above

UAE has recently approved Pfizer-BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine in children aged 12 years and above. According to Pfizer and BioNTech, the studies have found Covid-19 vaccine to be 100% efficacious in children of this age group.

The approval by the UAE has raised hopes that children would be able to go to schools from next academic session after 1.5 years of distance and hybrid learning. Parents have been urged to get children vaccinated and rush can be seen in getting them vaccinated before start of 2 month summer holidays in July end.

 

A step-by-step guide to get children vaccinated against Covid-19 is described as follows:

 

1. Download the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Covid-19 application which is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

2. In the app select the first option: “Book Vaccine Appointment”.

3. On clicking a new list would be opened. Select the first option: “Residents, Workers and Families”.

4. A welcome screen would appear. Click on “Book Appointment”.

5. Appointment category would appear next. Click on “Child 12+”

6. Choose vaccine “Pfizer-BioNTech”

7. Fill in the details next. Enter child’s first name, last name, date of birth, Emirates ID number and your mobile phone number in format 971-5-xxxxxxxx

8. Select where you want your child to get vaccinated. Read consent form and check the box before clicking on “Confirm”

 

The Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines are now being administered across 46 vaccination centers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Children 12 years and above can receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

 

Where to get the Pfizer jab in Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions. People exempt from receiving the vaccine include those who are currently or have recently been infected with Coronavirus, volunteers in vaccine clinical trials, pregnant women, people vaccinated outside the country, those who have severe allergies to vaccines or vaccine components, and those with diseases proven to interact negatively with the vaccine.
