Some UAE residents can now get vaccinated at their homes

In an attempt to reach more people, the United Arab Emirates’s capital Abu Dhabi has initiated the administration of Covid-19 jabs at home. The emirate has launched this new initiative to target senior citizens and some other residents who are unable to reach the healthcare centres.

The Twitter handle of Abu Dhabi Government Media house tweeted, “The initiative provides home vaccination services to senior citizens and residents. The home vaccination service is in line with the Choose to Vaccinate campaign, and is part of efforts to continue to prioritise the protection of the vulnerable.”

As per the department directives, the service is extended with an aim to prioritise the vulnerable section of society. The initiative is ‘We reach you, wherever you are’. It was launched by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and was brought into execution with the combined efforts of the Martyrs Families Affairs office along with the Majalis Affairs Office at Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, Abu Dhabi Health Service (Seha), Family Development Foundation (FD), and Abu Dhabi Media.

Those who are eligible to receive the vaccine can directly call on Seha’s toll-free number 80050 and book the vaccination within the limits of the capital. Last month too, the Ministry of Health and Prevention announced that senior citizens can book their vaccines by calling on 800 11111.

This service was made available to both the emiratis as well as the expats. Once the call has been made from the seeker, the person will receive a message confirming the appointment with the health care officials.

In other emirates too, the MoHAP has collaborated with the Ministry of Community Development and other local social services organizations to reach the people and give them the service.

In Abu Dhabi, this is the first time that the official announcement has come from the department's end. Earlier Sharjah had already announced reaching out to people with such services in January.

In Sharjah, you can book the service via the call centre of the Social Services Department at 800700. The at-home service is also available in Ajman and you can fix an appointment for it via the toll-free number 80070.
