Sinopharm vaccine to be directed in Dubai, confirms DHA

Keeping the success of vaccination drive in Dubai into consideration and because of public safety, the Dubai Health Authority has decided to start providing Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine to Emirati citizens and Dubai citizens who are above 60.

The development in the priority list will be witnessed from Sunday and those seeking to get vaccinated falling under the said age group can get their vaccine shots against Covid-19 in the health care centre designated by the Dubai health authorities.

Introduction of Sinopharm by the Dubai Health Authorities highlights the choice they have given to the public to choose the vaccine they want to get vaccinated with. Through this, people will be aware of how many types of vaccines have been introduced in the United Arab Emirate.

The announcement by the department said included that the chinese- based Sinopharm vaccine will be made available in Nad Al Hamr Health Centre, Al Twar Health Centre and Al Mankhool Health Centre.

 Dr Farida Al Khaja, CEO of DHA’s Clinical Support Services and Nursing Sector and Chairperson of the COVID-19 Vaccination Steering Committee, confirmed the announcement saying, “Providing the Sinopharm vaccine is part of the DHA’s keenness to ensure the availability of COVID-19 vaccination services to all segments of the community, especially the older age groups who are considered to be among the high-risk categories. In the first phase of the launch of the vaccine, the DHA’s Contact Centre will reach out to those who already have pre-registered appointments for vaccination.”

Al Khaja also stressed on the importance of vaccines and said that the Sinopharm vaccines will soon be made available to other sections of the population in the UAE. Apart from this, the top health official noted that in line with the vaccination drive, it is also important to abide by all the precautionary measures directed by the government and also lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
