Shamma bint Mohammed launches 'New Home' national initiative

Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Women Award of the Dubai Quality Group and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions recently launched a nationwide initiative to raise awareness of parents about positive education among children. The initiative, titled "New Home," has been launched in line with 49th National Day of the United Arab Emirates.

As part of the initiative, Sheikha Shamma also launched a virtual seminar organised by the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions. The seminar, titled "The Role of Parents in Continuing Remote Learning," was moderated by Dr. Huda Al Matroushi along with the participation of Dr. Khalid Maqlad and Dr. Jamila Sulaiman Al Khanji.

Speaking about the development, Sheikha Shamma stated that the unprecedented impact of the Coronavirus pandemic intensified the need for adapting to new changes in the process of education.

"There are certain events that happen in our lives and change our perspective, so when the coronavirus pandemic began, the world fell into a state of confusion, raising the question, ‘How can we adapt to this pandemic until science contains it?’ The answer involves solving many challenges facing the world, most notably how to continue the education process," she said.

In this regard, the UAE leadership have also shown keenness in ensuring the continuity of the education process even as some nations have halted their academic process due to the Coronavirus pandemic. She also underlined the value of communication networks, highlighting the crucial role played by advanced technologies in facilitating daily activities of people across the country despite the challenges imposed by pandemic restrictions.

Sheikha Shamma noted that one of the major challenges of the group is to ensure that the education process is carried out successfully and students are benefited in all possible ways, just as it would have happened through traditional education.

To realise this objective, she added that there is a need for legitimate cooperation between schools and families, noting that they play a significant role in attaining psychological balance for students. She also asserted that coordination between schools and families will also support the process for remote education for students.
