Ras Al Khaimah: Seven health centres, four hospitals to provide free coronavirus tests

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police and Head of the Local Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Team, announced that free coronavirus tests would be performed at seven health centres, four hospitals, along with local preventative medicine and mobile medical teams, and also Sheikh Saud Charitable School in Al-Mairid area, for all the residents and citizens. The announcement was made upon directives of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Mmeber and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. These are an extension of efforts by leadership and government of UAE to ensure health and safety of the public.

The free of cost tests for Covid-19 will be provided to all personnel employed at commercial establishments, industrial and construction sectors, commercial centres, food stores, delivery services and likewise.

The announcement was made by Major General Al Nuaimi in a team meeting that he was chairing. The meeting was held remotely and attendees included representatives from Ministry of Health and Prevention, Department of Economic Development, the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department, Department of Public Services, Centre for Emergency, Crisis and Disasters in Ras Al Khaimah, among other relevant authorities.

During meeting the latest development in Ras Al Khaimah in Covid-19 pandemic situation was discussed. Also ways to increase Covid-19 testing in the emirate were discussed.

Al Nuaimi presented during the meeting the testing centres locations which will be distributed throughout emirate. He also explained the formation of field teams that would be responsible to visit workers who weren’t tested in their homes.

The launching of free testing centres indicates the keen efforts of leadership to increase testing. This will help in early detection and treatment of infection at an early stage, so limiting infection spread. This is especially crucial as employees are gradually returning back to offices and workplaces.
