School students in UAE to physically attend summer training starting August 1

Starting August 1, national service summer training course is to be physically attended by UAE’s school students. Course is three week long and would proceed while adhering to strict Covid-19 safety protocols to protect public health. The National and Reserve Service Authority (NRSA) announced its decision to organize the volunteer summer session for students between 13 years to 16 years. The program aims to inculcate multiple skills among pupils including discipline, tolerance, charity, cooperation and drive to serve the nation selflessly full of courage and determination.

Interested pupils can register with NRSA if they wish to attend the course. Four preconditions for joining the course have been set by the authorities. These include participant to be an Emirati, must be in age category of 13-16 years, must attain an approval to participate in the summer program from parents/guardian and should have cleared a fitness test with flying colours.

Aspiring candidates are required to present their original and copies of the UAE passport, Emirates ID and four individual photographs for registration, by last date set as July 15. NRSA further added that participants can register through the recruitment centres near their homes. Currently NRSA is coordinating with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to recognize aspiring participants, course being unique and presenting rare opportunity for all-round personal growth, character building and enhancing awareness about the rich Emirati culture and history.

Earlier courses by NRSA have been a huge success. They had instilled loyalty and patriotism among the participants. The course will also focus on accountability, responsibility, self-reliance and leadership skills that are needed in all walks of life. Dietitians and other experts will have a role to impart important information on healthy living amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
