PCR test can now be conducted in reduced costs in Abu Dhabi

In wake of increasing the daily number of testing in Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Health Service Company has decided to reduce the cost that is generally paid to conduct the PCR test to identify Covid-19 in the human body.

Its announcement was made on Saturday stating that from the day onwards, any tests that are conducted in Seha testing centers in Abu Dhabi will be cut to Dh85.

Since the start of rapid tests and PCR tests in the emirate, the Health Service Company has been continuously reducing the cost for conducting these tests. When the virus attack first erupted, the price of the test was Dh370 in the United Arab Emirates.

But soon the government took the step to reduce the price by Dh100 and in September the price at which these tests were being conducted was Dh250. But to make these tests even more accessible Abu Dhabi dropped the price to Dh180 for private facilities.

The government facilities on the other hand have been conducting PCR nasal swab tests for Dhs150 in Dubai. It was only last month when the clinics in Abu Dhabi gave special offers for PCR tests which included three tests for Dh270.

Now the latest initiative by Seha removes the compulsion of a package that guarantees tests for low price but Emirati people can now go for lower rice tests even with a single test in the clinics. The new offer by the Health service allows individuals to purchase a single PCR test.

This comes after a lot of the companies made it compulsory to submit the negative results of the PCR test for the staff to return to the workplace. Many companies though continue to keep the work from policy intact while others have extended the requirement of in-house work.

Due to the very requirement, the staff is required to submit the test results which ensure their coming back to work and in turn result in payment. Abu Dhabi has updated its border rules also which makes it compulsory for any traveler staying in the emirate for at least eight days to produce up to three negative nasal swab results.

This adds to the number of measures taken by the Abu Dhabi authorities to curb the spread of coronavirus in the UAE. From being one of the nations to carry the most number of coronavirus tests to being the country to implement strict measures to ensure social distance practice, the UAE has been successful in every area. This new step will only ensure more people coming forward for testing.
