Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Mike Pompeo, Secretary of the State of the United States, held a telephonic conversation on an array of issues concerning both the UAE and the US.

During the telephonic discussion, Sheikh Mohamed and Pompeo shared their views on the ties of friendship and strategic cooperation shared between the UAE and the United States and potential ways to strengthen them. While reviewing various regional and international issues of mutual interest, the two leaders also discussed the potential areas of cooperation between the UAE and the United State amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. They shared details about the necessary precautionary and preventive measures implemented by the two countries to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus and its impact on the region and the world.

Speaking to the US Secretary of State, Sheikh Mohamed offered his condolences on the victims of Coronavirus across America, also wishing speedy recovery to the infected patients fighting the virus.

Thanking Sheikh Mohamed for his noble gestures and solidarity with the American citizens in the aftermath of the global health crisis, Pompeo hailed the strong relations between the US and the UAE.

The US Secretary of State also praised the effective measures by the UAE leadership to contain the spread of the pandemic in the country and across the world, while referring to the humanitarian initiative taken by the Emirati authorities to mitigate the impact of the virus on global communities.

Significantly, the two leaders further emphasised on the need to coordinate all efforts across the international community to enhance coordination and cooperation in global efforts to effectively contain and eliminate the spread and impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
