India’s ban on international flights extended till June end

India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced extension of already imposed ban on scheduled international flights into and out of India till midnight, 30th June.

India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced extension of already imposed ban on scheduled international flights into and out of India till midnight, 30th June. The current suspension of flights was expiring on 31st May. 


India had suspended all international passenger flights March end last year as COVID-19 pandemic began. However, as the pandemic subsided in later half of 2020, India had entered “air bubble” arrangements for travelers global movement as a temporary measure. Special flights under “Vande Bharat” mission have been operational by India for repatriating its citizens since May 2020.

 

India currently has air bubble agreements with 27 countries, but many have temporarily suspended flights from India amid disastrous second wave of the pandemic.

 

The latest order by DGCA exempt international cargo movements by air and passenger flights that are approved by the DGCA.
