Forbes Middle East unveils top healthcare leaders in the region

Forbes Middle East has unveiled its first ranking of the Top 50 Healthcare Leaders in the region. The ranking features innovation-driven pioneers and most impactful healthcare organisations in the Middle East.

The top five includes three entrants leading hospitals in the region, with Sulaiman Al Habib, Founder and Chairman of the Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Medical Services Group (HMG) topping at the chart. As per reports, HMG recorded $1.9 billion in revenues in 2019.

Furthermore, Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Managing Director of the Hamad Medical Corporation and Said Darwazah, Executive Chairman of Hikma Pharmaceuticals, have also been listed in the top three. Significantly, Darwazah is the only leader from Jordan to make the list.  

It is important to note that the UAE dominates the list with 25 of the 50 leaders heading healthcare firms based in the emirates. It is followed by 13 leaders in Saudi Arabia, six in Egypt, two in Qatar, and one each in Kuwait, Algeria, Jordan, and Morocco.

Reportedly, the 50 leaders in the healthcare ecosystem named on the list have been crucial in driving paramount innovation and investment in the MENA region.

In November 2021, Mohsen Mahgoub, vice chairman and managing director of Ibnsina Pharma, facilitated the establishment of a logistics service with $28 million in initial investment. Furthermore, Dallah Healthcare Company acquired 8.2% of the International Medical Centre with a value of $77 million under the guidance of CEO Ahmed bin Saleh Babaeer. On the technology front, Fahad Khater, owner and chairman of Alameda Healthcare, announced the company's partnership with CMR Surgical to strengthen robotic-assisted surgery in early 2022.

The list is collaborated with Forbes Middle East assessing the size of the business, including revenues and assets such as diversity of operations, experience, impact, and achievements of the business leader based in the Middle East.
