Dubai Economy fines 5 businesses, warns 10 over non-adherence to COVID-19 precautionary norms

As the efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus continue across the UAE, the Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy on Thursday imposed fines on five commercial establishments, including gargour outlets in Warsan 3 and retail stores in various shopping centres, for violating the precautionary norms. These establishments were fined after employees were seen without face masks.

Furthermore, no outlet was ordered to shut down by field inspectors during the checks.

The CCCP field inspectors also issued warnings to 10 establishments over non-fulfilment of the guideline to put up physical distancing stickers as required. During the inspection, it was found that overall 711 establishments were fully complying with the COVID-19 precautionary measures issued by the authorities to contain the spread of the virus and to generate more awareness among the public on mitigating the impact of the health crisis.

Dubai Economy has urged the public to cooperate and contribute to the national efforts to combat the pandemic and to preserve the emirate's achievements so far. Dubai has witnessed a gradual resumption of economic activities and return to normalcy with the support and directives of the leadership.

Dubai Economy also highlighted that strict action will be taken against those who will be found violating or abusing the COVID-19 precautionary guidelines. It has called on the authorities, consumers and the public to report any non-compliance to the precautionary measures via the Dubai Consumer app available on the Apple, Google, and Huawei stores, or by calling 600545555, or by visiting the Consumerrights.ae website.
