Digital sanity was top priority during COVID-19: UAE official

There is need for a public-private partnership to develop a digitally secure environment in the UAE

Dr. Mohammad Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the Government of the UAE, underlined the importance of maintaining digital sanity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing the Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC) 2021 in Dubai, Dr. Al Kuwaiti noted that ensuring digital sanity during the pandemic crisis was a top priority for first digital security responders as they continuously worked towards preventing cyberattacks and securing business continuity across the world.

In his statement at the conference, he stressed the need for a public-private partnership towards building collaboration among private, public, and government entities with the aim of establishing a globally trusted digital oasis in the UAE.

He added that it will further assist in tackling any potential cyber threats at an international level along with promoting digital security by using innovative strategies. Dr. Al Kuwaiti affirmed that such initiatives would boost equitable development across the world.

"We need to provide a sanctuary that will allow for digital benefits to be driven fairly to smaller nations or nations that need help in their digital transformation journey," he noted.
