DHA launches new 24/7 hospital to treat COVID-19 patients

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Tuesday inaugurated a new 24/7 medical facility specialised for the treatment of infectious diseases. As per reports, the medical centre will particularly cater to the needs of COVID-19 infections varying from moderate to critical.

Located in the Dubai Industrial Zone, the centre is equipped with state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, including highly specialised clinics, advanced laboratory, pharmacy, radiology and other follow-up services. There are 88 rooms dedicated to the treatment of COVID-19 cases. It boasts of the latest technology and critical care equipment that will help in providing the best services to the patients. Furthermore, the centre has been designed in a flexible manner that will also allow its expansion to 170 rooms in the case of an emergency.

Significantly, a number of COVID-19 cases have already been referred to the facility for treatment. The 24/7 medical facility is working directly in affiliation with the Rashid Hospital. In compliance with the best international standards, the centre will provide high-quality care to all patients in need under the guidance and management of Rashid Hospital.

DHA Director-General Humaid Al Qutami inaugurated the facility, highlighting the DHA's continuous efforts in fulfilling the necessities of the current and upcoming stages in fighting infectious diseases, particularly the global COVID-19 pandemic.

With the new medical centre, Dubai has achieved an essential addition to its top-of-the-line healthcare facilities provided by the DHA to the people in a bid to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Al Qutami added.

He further explained that the new centre is equipped with the best technology to facilitate the treatment of a number of communicable diseases. The facility also functions as an ultra-modern and advanced laboratory for diagnostic tests and radiology in addition to a pioneering centre for epidemiological research and studies.

During the inauguration ceremony, Al Qutami was accompanied by Dr Younis Kazim, CEO of Dubai Healthcare Corporation and Dr. Amer Ahmad Sharif, Head of Dubai’s COVID-19 Command and Control Centre and the Vice-Chancellor of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences. Other leading medical and healthcare specialists present during the ceremony include Ahmed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Joint Corporate Support Services, Dr Farida Al Khaja, CEO of Clinical Support Services and Nursing Sector, Dr Mansoor Nathari, Medical Director of Rashid Hospital, Dr MunaTahlak, CEO of Latifa Hospital for Women and Children, and Dr Fahd Baslaib, Interventional Cardiologist and CEO of Rashid Hospital.
