Covid 19 Uae Ensures Continuous Efforts To Help Global Community

The United Arab Emirates recently participated in the 60th session of the United Nations’ Commission for Social Development. During the session, the UAE underlined the details of the continuous efforts its leadership and relevant authorities have been ensuring to help countries across the world recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UAE has provided more than 2,000 tonnes of medical aid and supplies as part of its COVID-19 assistance efforts. Furthermore, nearly 200 medical assistance flights have been sent to 135 countries during the process.

Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, UAE's Minister of Community Development, addressed the Commission’s general discussion, highlighting the UAE and its government's efforts to deal with the global pandemic and protect millions of lives and livelihoods across the world.

"The UAE looks forward to sharing its experience and best practices with the international community to ensure that our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is a comprehensive and sustainable process," she added.

She further stressed the importance of enhancing preparedness among future generations to better tackle global crises.

"While we will focus on the international community’s recovery from the impacts of this pandemic, we can also leave communities more prepared for future generations," she said.

So far, the UAE has administered 196 medical assistance flights and established field hospitals and clinics in Sudan, Guinea, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkmenistan as part of its humanitarian assistance during the pandemic. The UAE ensured COVID-19 assistance to 117 countries through the International Humanitarian City in Dubai. In addition, the UAE donated $10 million to the World Health Organisation to strengthen its endeavour to safeguard the lives of millions of people during the pandemic.
