Coronavirus: UAE focuses on post-Covid recovery, launches recovery clinic in Dubai and Sharjah

As part of its path-breaking approach towards Covid-19 pandemic, United Arab Emirates launched Post-Covid Assessment and Recovery clinics to cater to the physical and mental needs of coronavirus patients who recovered from the infection. The clinics were opened by Zulekha Hospital in Dubai and Sharjah to provide pulmonary-focused, multidisciplinary evaluation and care, aimed at smooth recovery of patients.

Talking about the requirement for such a clinic, Taher Shams, the hospital’s managing director, said: “The world is overwhelmed by the impact of the pandemic. Individuals will take time to get back to normal post COVID-19 and need the right advice and mental support at this time. We are enabling these services through this assessment clinic that can ensure complete recovery and assure our patrons that they will have easy access to medical services at this hour of need.”

The medical experts realized the need for medical help even in the post-recovery phase as many patients reported prolonged symptoms of breathlessness, chest pain, joint aches, memory loss and anxiety. Specialist felt that such patients need to be timely assessed for their complete recovery and prevention of any other form of affliction.

Zulekha Hospital’s post-Covid clinic focus on providing complete assessment to the patient, wherein a pulmonologist checks for any infections causing other ailments. In case of any complication, the patient is referred to other specialists depending on for further treatment.

Zulekha Hospital facilities in Dubai and Sharjah also provide telemedicine services to the patients who cannot come and see a doctor in person and prefer online consultations. The hospital assures its visitors about its strict infection control norms and social distancing measures, which it follows.
