Amid the strict Covid-19 protocols, residents have the right to appeal against the fines in UAE

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the United Arab Emirates has imposed heavy fines on those who do not follow the protocols set by the authorities. These fines are imposed on practices such as not following social distancing or breaching the rules repeatedly in public areas among other things.

But having said that, the citizens of the country are also given the right to appeal against the fines that have been imposed on them. As per the current rules, fines for violating the Covid-19 safety rules in the UAE start from Dh500 and go up till Dh50,00. Residents can appeal against the imposition of fines on them if they feel they have been penalised unfairly.

To ensure that residents get equal opportunity, the UAE officials have launched a new electronic service where people can challenge fines on them. This service is available on www.pp.gov.ae and those seeking to appeal against it, can visit the site.

Other than this, the service can also be accessed through a public persecution application. If one wants to appeal against the fine then there are only a few steps to doing it. It includes personal information, fine details and the reason for that particular person challenging the fine imposed by the UAE authorities.

The acting chief prosecutor of the Emergency Crisis and Disaster Prosecution, Salem Ali Al Zaabi, assured that a sub committee has been formed which includes 12 people and over 6p prosecutors from different parts of the nation. These people together will be addressing the concerns of the fine holders.

He further added, “Actually, we are not the entity that issues the fines ... We examine complaints based on existing rules and regulations.”

The prosecution can be directly contacted via the hotline 8009999, if any more information is needed on the subject. It was further asserted by the top official that investigation of any relevant complaint is part of the duty of the prosecution, and they can take the call on whether to cancel it or uphold it on the individual.
