All you need to know about DHA's COVID-19 vaccine campaign

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) started the COVID-19 vaccination campaign from December 23, in coordination with the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management and the COVID-19 Command and Control Centre in the emirate.

Here's all you need to know about getting vaccinated for COVID-19 in Dubai:

Which vaccine?

DHA will be providing Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine which recently received approval for use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and was registered by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.

Where can you receive the vaccine shot?

As of now, there are six DHA health facilities providing the COVID-19 vaccine shot:

1. Zabeel Primary Health Care Centre

2. Al Mizhar Primary Health Care Centre

3. Nad Al Hamr Primary Health Care Centre

4. Barsha Primary Health Care Centre

5. Uptown Mirdif Medical Fitness Centre

6. Hatta Hospital

Book an appointment:

UAE residents have two ways through which they can register and book an appointment for COVID-19 vaccination: Using DHA's mobile app or its toll-free number 800 342.

However, it is important to note that in the first phase of the campaign, only these four categories of individuals have been targeted for the vaccination shot:

1. Emiratis and Dubai residents who are aged 60 years and above

2. People suffering from chronic diseases who are 18 years and above

3. People of determination

4. Frontline workers

At the time of booking an appointment, the DHA will inform the applicants about the tentative dates for the next phase of the vaccine roll-out and where the people can register.

Is the vaccine mandatory?

The Dubai Media Office has confirmed that the COVID-19 vaccine is voluntary for all residents and citizens.

Can a person who was infected with COVID-19 disease take the vaccine shot?

Yes, they can. However, they will be eligible to take the vaccination only after three months from the date of infection.

If the COVID-19 vaccine safe for someone who has taken any other vaccine, such as the influenza vaccine?

Yes, it is safe. However, the applicant needs to wait for more than four weeks to take the COVID-19 vaccine, after taking the influenza vaccine.

Is a face mask still necessary if a person has taken the COVID-19 vaccine? Can I stop wearing a face mask after taking the COVID-19 vaccine?

Even after taking the COVID-19 vaccine, every individual is required to follow the necessary precautionary measures, including wearing a face mask at all times.

Will it be necessary to take a PCR test for travel purposes or for pre-surgical procedures in Dubai if the person has taken the COVID-19 vaccine?

Yes, it is necessary. As of now, every individual is required to comply with the government-approved travel regulations and policies related to COVID-19 testing and screening in Dubai.
