Al Rahba Hospital sets up new Urgent Care Center for COVID-19 services

Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the UAE’s largest healthcare network, has opened a new Urgent Care Center at Al Rahba Hospital with the aim of enhancing the support to COVID-19 patients. The new unit will extend COVID-19 related medical services to patients referred by Prime Assessment Centers.

Health authorities conduct necessary blood tests, X-rays and other medical examinations to evaluate the assessment of the overall condition and severity of symptoms among COVID-19 positive patients.

Patients in critical condition are then admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to monitor their health until their symptoms improve before finally approving their discharge.

Explaining the importance of the new Urgent Care Center, Dr. Marwan Ali Al Kaabi, Acting Group Chief Operations Officer at SEHA, noted that the Center has been established as part of the authorities' ongoing efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of the patients against infectious diseases. The Centre will ensure that the community members receive the necessary health care and medical treatment that they require to overcome the disease.

"Through our integrated COVID-19 services across SEHA facilities - from PCR testing, vaccinations, Prime Assessment Centers and emergency and urgent care services at Al Rahba Hospital - we are committed to supporting our patients through exceptional care at every stage of their healthcare journey," he added.

Operated by SEHA's Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Al Rahba Hospital has become a dedicated hospital for infectious diseases, including COVID-19. In view of the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital has increased its bed capacity to 250, out of which 200 beds are assigned for acute care and 50 beds are set aside for Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The newly-opened Urgent Care Center at Al Rahba Hospital will further provide necessary medical services to patients by strengthening the access to urgent care in the Emirate.

Dr. Al Kaabi underlined that since the pandemic crisis hit the emirate, Al Rahba Hospital has been working as a designated hospital for COVID-19 patient care in Abu Dhabi. In 2021, the hospital expanded as well as revamped its plans to be designated as a facility specialising in infectious diseases in the Emirate.

"This designation was based on its medical expertise and technical know-how in managing infectious diseases such as pulmonary tuberculosis, hemorrhagic fever, viral and respiratory infections, HIV and malaria infection complications, as well as COVID-19" he added

Al Rahba Hospital is staffed with 48 doctors specialised in internal medicine and infectious diseases such as the Coronavirus. Doctors and medical staff provide appropriate medical attention to patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms along with other services pertaining to chronic diseases such as heart, kidney and liver infections.

These modifications are aimed at providing specialized healthcare services to patients to meet their specific requirements in a supportive and healing environment.

The Urgent Care Center is open daily from 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM. It is particularly dedicated to COVID-19 patients referred by Prime Assessment Centers.
