Abu Dhabi updates COVID-19 rules for fully vaccinated residents

Abu Dhabi authorities have updated the COVID-19 protocols for fully vaccinated residents in the emirate. As per the latest update, fully vaccinated residents in Abu Dhabi are not required to take a PCR test to restore the green status on their Al Hosn app. According to the app's information page, the red status will automatically turn green on day 11 after 10-day quarantine without the need for residents to undergo another PCR test.

“Quarantine for 10 days and wait for your code to turn green automatically on day 11. The green code will stay for 30 days. Please take a PCR test every 14 days in the next 60 days,” the page said.

Earlier, residents were required to obtain a green status after testing positive for COVID-19. They were required to provide two negative PCR test results 24 hours apart, even with full vaccination status.

Al Hosn has also provided a 90-day exemption to people testing positive for COVID-19 from taking the vaccine or the booster dose. This exemption is valid for the integrated Travel Pass. Residents are required to undergo PCR testing every 14 days in order to maintain a Green Pass status.

In addition, UAE authorities have recently launched a campaign under the hashtag 'Protect Others' on social media platforms with the aim of spreading awareness and encouraging Covid-positive patients to isolate themselves indoors to curb the spread of the virus.

Abu Dhabi authorities have mandated a Green Pass on the Al Hosn app for entry into the emirate. They are regularly enforcing precautionary measures to maintain safety during visits to public places in the UAE Capital.

As per the latest update, the COVID-19 safety pass is mandatory for entry at all federal and some local government departments along with public schools and colleges. The green status remains active for 14 days when a fully vaccinated person gets a negative PCR test result. However, it will turn grey after 14 days unless another negative COVID-19 test result is generated.

For full vaccination status, residents are required to take a booster dose six months after the date of their second dose. The authorities have provided a 30-day grace period to residents to get their booster dose.
