Abu Dhabi Takes Concrete Measures To Show Its Solidarity With Its Working Class

Abu Dhabi City Municipality providing water, juices, umbrellas to outdoor workers

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has shown its concern and solidarity for its service givers in the most humane way. Keeping in mind their safety and health concerns, the municipality has recently made arrangements to provide water, juice and umbrellas to outdoor workers.

Having joined hands with the General Women's Union, they have been looking after municipal workers who are toiling it out in the summer heat. This initiative was taken under the Suqya thought scheme that encourages the values of social solidarity and cooperation, as well as giving and compassion among members of the community.

The initiative will be implemented on Monday and Wednesday every week until the end of September and benefit 1,500 workers who are working during hot weather conditions on the municipality facilities.

Taking full precaution and care of its working professionals as well, Abu Dhabi government also implemented the "remote work" system widely focused on senior citizens, working mothers and employees who suffer from chronic diseases and respiratory symptoms. This has been ongoing since March 2020.

Taking the mental health and wellbeing of its working professionals seriously, In June too, Abu Dhabi City Municipality also established a new 835 meter running track in ICAD area, an industrial area of Mussafah.  This was done with the sole purpose of improving physical and mental health of blue-collar workers.  The development comes with other attempts to beautify the area for workers who reside in the area.
