Abu Dhabi may lift covid bound restrictions in coming weeks

With the coronavirus infection coming in control in Abu Dhabi, the authorities are planning to lift the COVID-19 restrictions in the coming two weeks. If not all, the emirate plans to remove most of the restrictions.

The official announcement was made by the Abu Dhabi Emergency Crisis and Disasters Committee who said that the emirate will resume “all economic, tourism, cultural and entertainment activities.”

The statement from the government press office regarding the COVID-19 restriction said, “the decision was taken after the success of efforts made to maintain a low percentage of confirmed cases per total tests conducted in the emirate.”

The recent data revealed during the weekly meeting of the United Arab Emirates said that the percentage of the confirmed cases in the last three months to November was 0.39 percent. However, the official also maintained that there are no plans to stop the checking at the border. According to the present norms, passengers entering from Dubai must show a negative PCR nasal swab test.

Abu Dhabi is known to have carried out regular tests targeting the larger section of the population and not only that, the emirate is also sincerely carrying out screening practices at many of the government and private offices. These facilities also extend to shops, hotels and restaurants.

While making the announcement, the authorities also focused on continuous testing so as to keep the cases in track and other than that restrictions will be relaxed which include high density areas, industrial zones, and shopping malls and restaurants every two weeks.

This came after China’s Sinopharm vaccine was officially registered for phase three trials and it was found to be 86 percent effective. Following this very announcement of the vaccine, the authorities decide to relax the COVID-19 guidelines.

The UAE’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday said that in its step towards combating the global pandemic, it has taken the decision to approve the request from the Chinese drug maker for its inactivated Covid-19 vaccine.

One of the other analyses showed that the vaccine showed a 100 percent efficiency in preventing moderate and severe cases of the disease. The approval only came after authorities confirmed the safety of the vaccine.
