Abu Dhabi issues detailed COVID-19 travel guidelines for visitors

In view of the surge in tourism in Abu Dhabi, the Emirate's Department of Culture and Tourism has provided a comprehensive guide for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers to help them in enjoying a safe and stress-free journey into the UAE capital.

The authority has urged all travellers seeking to enter the Capital to first check DCT Abu Dhabi’s destination website VisitAbuDhabi.ae for the updated travel guidelines and COVID-19 precautionary measures.

DCT Abu Dhabi has also assigned a designated far right lane (Lane 1) for tourists entering Abu Dhabi via the Dubai/Abu Dhabi Road entry point. The lane has a guest’s service office and officials to provide necessary help and support to passengers for a seamless entry to the emirate.

· Vaccinated passengers are required to submit a vaccination proof provided by their home country along with a negative PCR test result. Abu Dhabi authorities have also lifted all quarantine protocols for vaccinated passengers and unvaccinated passengers from Green list countries.

· Meanwhile, unvaccinated visitors are allowed to enter the Emirate by submitting a negative PCR test obtained within 96 hours.

· The Authority also directs both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers to download the Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA UAE Smart) app or visit the ica.gov.ae website to fill in necessary details on the 'Register Arrivals Form' 48 hours before the travel date. The Medical Committee will be taking at least 48 hours to validate the information and provide approval to passengers for travel to the Emirate.

· Once cleared to fly, travellers will be asked to present a negative PCR test conducted within 48 hours of their departure.

Other updated protocols include:

1. PCR Testing on Arrival at the Abu Dhabi International Airport. Only children under 12-years and individuals with official exemptions are exempted from this rule.

2. Green List vs Non-Green List Countries: Vaccinated passengers travelling from a Green List country will be asked to take another PCR test on Day 6. Vaccinated travellers from a non-Green List country will be needed to take additional PCR tests on Day 4 and Day 8.

Unvaccinated travellers from a Green List country are required to undergo another PCR test on Day 6 and Day 9 without the need for quarantine. Unvaccinated travellers coming from a non-Green List country will be needed to undergo quarantine measures.

3. Unvaccinated passengers are not allowed to enter public attractions in Abu Dhabi. Vaccinated passengers are required to present vaccinated proof along with a negative PCR test result for visiting public places in the emirate.

4. If fully-vaccinated and unvaccinated international travellers are entering Abu Dhabi via Dubai or other emirates, they are required to follow the same protocols as those for flying directly through home countries. However, the authority calls on all passengers to check official channels or airline requirements ahead of travel. Relevant information for vaccination and PCR Testing can be found on the Emirates Airline COVID-19 Information Hub.

5. PCR testing requirement also depends on the travellers' departure country.

6. Passengers travelling to Abu Dhabi via the road will be scanned by an EDE mobile scanning device at the emirate's entry point. People with potential COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to undergo a free rapid antigen test which provides results within 20 minutes. For positive test results, travellers will be allowed to enter Abu Dhabi but will be asked to isolate themselves.
