Abu Dhabi Airports Reduce Transit Time by 27 percent

The Abu Dhabi International Airport has now introduced a ‘Fast Transfer Corridor’ initiative in lines with most other countries, to facilitate smooth transfer of transit passengers to easily follow their flights.

This has helped reduced transit time by 27 percent, and provided a smooth and comfortable travelling experience for passengers.  This new "fast lane diversion" initiative has allowed transit passengers on flights arriving from specific destinations in Europe, the United States and Canada to take advantage of the new and simplified security checks at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The initiative comes under the larger framework of broader efforts being taken by Abu Dhabi Airports to support the growth of travel and air transport, especially after the set back of the Covid-19 situation. The intent is speed- up the travel plans and movement between the West and East and visa versa.

The initiative was developed and implemented in cooperation with the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, the General Administration of Customs, Abu Dhabi Airports, Etihad Airways and partner airports.

Speaking on the initiative, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Airports said, “This initiative has been taken with the mind to ensure that it is going to act as a great development to enhance the experience of transit travelers. Further, the comprehensive precautionary measures that we follow at Abu Dhabi International Airport, reflects our commitment to travelers as our top priority, and to ensure their health, safety and comfort throughout their journey through the capital of the UAE, and the initiative will be implemented at Abu Dhabi Airport. The first phase focuses on Etihad Airways flights coming from selected destinations in Europe and North America, which will greatly benefit airlines in Western countries. The second phase is scheduled to start in 2021 to include a wider group of airlines and additional destinations. Later, it will include new procedures that include cargo operations alongside passengers.”
