Abu Dhabi: ADPHC issues guidelines for COVID-19 positive individuals

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has urged residents in the emirate to stay in isolation in case of a positive diagnosis of COVID-19. Adults have been advised to head to a Prime Assessment Centre for complete isolation measures to protect themselves from the disease.

Abu Dhabi’s public health watchdog further noted that children can isolate at home and wait to be contacted by a virtual assessment team for medical assistance.

However, if any person experiences breathing difficulties or chest pain, they are advised to head to the nearest emergency centre to receive necessary medical treatment.

Here is a guide issued by the authorities, explaining steps to be taken in case of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis or close contact with someone who has tested positive:

What should I do if I receive a COVID-19 positive diagnosis?

People must follow necessary procedures on the basis of their age and risk profile. Here are the categories:

High-risk category: People aged 50 years and above; those with chronic illness, pregnant women and those showing COVID-19 symptoms

Other category: Those with only mild or medium COVID-19 symptoms; and no chronic disease.

I am in the high-risk category, and have tested positive for COVID-19. What should I do?

The authorities advise people in a high-risk category, testing positive for COVID-19 to visit a Prime Assessment Centre for medical assessment and isolation.

Here is a list of Prime Assessment Centres in Abu Dhabi:

· Abu Dhabi city: Mafraq Hospital, Al Mushrif Wedding Hall, Madinat Mohamed Bin Zayed Centre for workers

· Al Ain: Al Ain Convention Centre’s Gate 7

· Al Dhafra: Madinat Zayed City Centre, Al Dhafra

I am a child (aged below 18 years) and in the Other category. I have also tested positive for COVID-19. What should I do?

Those below the age of 18 years and in the Other category must self-isolate at home in case of a positive test result. A virtual assessment team will contact them to provide details about complete isolation measures.

I have received an SMS informing me that I have been in contact with person who has tested positive for COVID-19. What should I do?

Close contacts are advised to immediately quarantine themselves. The next steps will be determined on the basis of their symptoms and vaccination status.

The ADPHC advises the following:

-Stay home and self-register for home quarantine procedures through the link provided in the SMS.

-Take another PCR test at any health facility in Abu Dhabi in case of any symptoms.

-In case of no symptoms and fully-vaccinated status, take a PCR test on Day 6.

-In case of no symptoms and unvaccinated status, take a PCR test on Day 9.
