Abdullah bin Zayed, World Economic forum's President, discuss bilateral cooperation, COVID-19 countermeasures

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and World Economic Forum(WEF) President BorgeBrende recently held a telephonic conversation and discussed various ways of enhancing cooperation, particularly in key economic, investment and commercial areas.

Both sides also shared views of the latest developments in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic and efforts taken to contain its impact on the economy and other aspects of the society. Sheikh Abdullah and BorgeBrende further stressed on the need to amplify the exchange of expertise and knowledge in the battle against the pandemic. They also emphasised the need to intensifying advanced Coronavirus detection tests along with enhancing support to international efforts towards the development of a potential vaccine to combat the novel Coronavirus.

On his part, Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the significance of WEF a major platform for promoting initiatives and partnerships in the global community. Regarding WEF as an important driver for accelerating economic development and facilitating business environment, Sheikh Abdullah expressed UAE's keenness towards strengthening its partnership with the international organisation.

Responding to his remarks, Brende hailed the UAE's partnership with the WEF and the Emirate's pioneering stature at both regional and international level. The WEF President also lauded the recent peace agreement signed between the UAE and Israel and its paramount role in bringing stability and economic development in the region.

In conclusion, Sheikh Abdullah thanked the WEF President, highlighting the role played by the international organisation towards sustainable development of various communities across the world.
