5 situations that permit temporary masks removal in UAE

Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre has listed situations that allow the removal of masks temporarily. Face masks are one of the best ways to stay safe from Covid-19 as it significantly reduces the transmission risk of the coronavirus.

 

Masks and social distancing are the top precautionary measures implemented in the UAE against the coronavirus. Failure to wear masks in public is a punishable offense with a fine of Dh3,000.

 

According to the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, three residents groups are exempted from the rule:

  • Children under 2
  • People of determination with severe disabilities
  • People with respiratory symptoms

 

In addition to this, the following situations permit people to take off their masks temporarily.

 

  •  When driving a car alone or along with members of the same family or household
  •  Easting in restaurants in indoor or outdoor settings. People must, however, maintain adequate distance from others
  •  Masks can be removed while exercising like running, jogging, or doing other sports like swimming. Adequate physical distancing should be maintained
  •  In an office setting where no other people are around
  •  When undergoing specific medical treatments like dental treatment and ear, nose, and throat examination or procedure
