Workers in Sharjah’s private educational institutes required to have mandatory PCR tests every 14 days

The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has announced that private educational institute workers in Sharjah must get a PCR test for Covid-19 every 14 days. Exception is provided to those who have already received the two shots of Covid-19 vaccine.

A circular was issued by the Sharjah Private Education Authority about the announcement for the directors of all private educational institutions in the emirate.

“Based on the developments related to Covid-19, and with the aim to ensure the safety of all workers and students in private educational institutions in the emirate, all workers in educational institutions must conduct the nasal swab (PCR examination) for workers in educational institutions every 14 days at their own expense, with the exception of workers who have obtained the Covid-19 vaccine (two doses),” read the circular.

Employees who extend a medical report that exempts them from getting vaccinated due to some health condition will not be required to pay for their tests. For these people the employer must cover the nasal swab test cost every 14 days.

The circular also mentions that if workers employed at emirate’s private educational institutions are to visit the headquarters of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, they must provide a valid nasal swab test result not older than 3 days before the visit, except the workers who have received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

According to the circular, all educational institutions are required to update the Tamam platform with the employees numbers who have got the vaccine administered, the results of the examiners and all updates required by the authority.

The monitoring teams will request the negative result of the nasal PCR tests for workers or a certificate of receiving the vaccine.
