UAE weather: Red alert issued as fog engulfs several cities

UAE's weather bureau issued alerts related to foggy conditions in the country. On Thursday, UAE residents woke up to foggy weather.

Earlier, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) stated that skies across the UAE will be looking sunny to partly cloudy and dusty, especially during the daytime. The NCM had issued yellow and red alerts due to the mist.

Dense fog was reported across various regions, including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday morning.

Taking to Twitter, the authorities urged drivers to be careful on the road due to limited visibility due to the fog. Furthermore, the mist is expected to increase during Thursday night and on Friday morning. Fist is expected to be formed over coastal areas around Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

The UAE weather bureau confirmed that, on average, temperatures are expected to be in the high 20s and minimum temperatures are predicted to drop to 15°C. Dubai is currently at 21°C. At the same time, winds are expected to blow consistently, at a speed of 10 –20 km/h and reach up to 30 km/h at times.
