UAE starts IATA travel pass trial to make travellers journey easy

The United Arab Emirates has started the use of an International Air Transport Association Travel pass on Thursday, which is a mobile application aimed at helping passengers to easily manage their travel requirements, on a trial basis.

Through the application, travelers can easily manage their travel in line with the government requirements for Covid-19 testing or any vaccination information. The first ones to trial the passenger's pass were the ones who traveled from Dubai to Barcelona on EK 185 on April 15.

The passengers tried the digital passports to verify any covid-19 related information and share their health status before the travel. These trials are being conducted to ensure the proper functioning of the application, which has been designed to offer more convenience to travelers.

Through this new initiative, the travelers will be able to manage Covid-19 related documentation digitally without any hassle. In the coming days, the travelers will also reportedly be able to handle the vaccination certificates sharing procedure with the authorities and airlines to further facilitate the travel.

Senior authorities also stressed the efficiency of this application saying that it will make the data sharing easy for the passengers as well as the officials. The Chief Operating Officer, Adel Al Redha asserted that the ability to process passengers' data will be made easier.

“We are pleased to have been pioneers and partner with IATA in trialing this initiative in real-time and soon will be launching other initiatives to further enhance our customer experience," said Redha. The trial is being only on certain selected flights from Dubai to Barcelona but it will soon be expanding to include the other routes.

The passengers who are eligible to use the application are personally invited to download the app and enroll themselves for the digital travel pass ahead of their travels. In Dubai, the same is being executed with the joint cooperation of select Prime Healthcare labs These labs are authorities to securely conduct the tests and send the test results to passengers via the application.

The travelers who are coming from the United Kingdom are authorized to get their tests done at select Screen4 labs. The IATA travel pass will have an integrated history of the passenger which will be enabling the traveler to find accurate information regarding the travel.

Other than this, the digital pass will also have information regarding the registry of labs so that it becomes even more convenient for travelers to find the testing centers and labs at their departure location. The IATA manages the global registry, which will be responsible for the secure and simple flow of necessary information seamlessly.

Emirates also has the industry's most generous ticket validity. The validity gives customers the ability as well as the flexibility to hold on to their tickets for up to 36 months.
