UAE sends medical aid, COVID-19 vaccine doses to Comoros

UAE has sent medical aid and vaccine doses to support Comoros' fight against the COVID-19 pandemic

The UAE recently sent an aid plane carrying 9 metric tonnes of medical supplies along with 300,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the Union of Comoros with the aim of helping the country in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aid aircraft was received by the President of the Union of Comoros, Azali Assoumani, and UAE Ambassador to Comoros Saeed Al Maqbali at the airport of the Comorian capital, Moroni.

Speaking on the occasion, Assoumani praised the UAE's global humanitarian and developmental efforts to support the COVID-19 fight in countries across the world. He also underlined the UAE’s continuous help and support to the Union of Comoros, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Assoumani further expressed his appreciation to the UAE's leadership, government, and Emirati people for their ongoing humanitarian initiatives and support to the people of Comoros.

UAE Ambassador Al Maqbali said that the medical aid is part of the UAE's continuous efforts to assist the initiatives of the Comorian government and its healthcare sector to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country.

Furthermore, Al Maqbali highlighted the strong, friendly relations between the UAE and Comoros as well as the keenness of their leaderships to foster and advance these ties to address issues of mutual interest.
