UAE schools conduct exams while following COVID-19 protocols

Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Grade 12 exams for the year 2021 began in the UAE on Thursday. As per reports, there are very few Indian schools in the UAE that are conducting the exams following the Kerala syllabus.

Speaking about the development, Abdul Kader V.V., principal at Abu Dhabi-based The Model School, underlined that the examinations are being conducted across all schools in compliance with the necessary COVID-19 precautionary measures in order to limit the spread of the virus.

“We have 143 students for SSLC, while one COVID-19 positive student didn’t appear. In Grade 12, we have 83 students, but 2 COVID-19 positive students didn’t appear,” the principal added.

On Thursday, the exam was held at 12.10 pm (UAE time) as all students, teachers, and school staff followed the required health and safety protocols in line with the fight against COVID-19.

Earlier, the exams were scheduled to take place from March 17-30. However, they were postponed to April 8 due to the state assembly elections taking place in the Indian state of Kerala. Various educational institutes in Kerala were serving as polling booths for the assembly polls, which concluded on April 6, Tuesday.

Now, Grade 12 examinations will be held till April 26, while SSLC exams are scheduled to conclude on April 29.
