UAE launches distance initiative to train million medical staff worldwide

Amid the global efforts to contain the Coronavirus pandemic, the UAE has recently launched a unique health initiative to provide distance medical training to millions of trainees across the world. Titled as the "Waterfall initiative", this virtual action plan aims to provide medical training related to the healthcare sector and ambulance services to millions of trainees globally in a bid to strengthen the global medical sector.

Reportedly, the “Waterfall” initiative will offer virtual medical training across 14 healthcare sectors. It has partnered with 140 experts and 67 academic institutions and training centres from across the world to facilitate the mammoth task of training about one million medical staff from around the world to support the global healthcare sector.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has also praised the virtual initiative which is notedly the largest global initiative for specialised training and continuous learning launched by the UAE.

The largest of its kind initiative will be carried out under the close supervision and follow-up of Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Taking to Twitter over the development, Sheikh Mohammed said: "With the follow up of my brother, Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has launched a health initiative to provide distance training in medical field and ambulance services for million trainees across the world."

Speaking about the initiative, Lt. General Sheikh Saif said that it is a gift by the UAE to the health and medical cadres from around the world through which the country aims to provide them with the best advanced medical training. The Deputy Prime Minister added that UAE believes international cooperation is the best way to counter the pandemic, and the initiative is a part of its contribution.

"The UAE is an active part of the world’s healthcare system and aims to empower medical cadres around the world," he said.

Significantly, the Waterfall Initiative is a continuous global education project which has been launched by the UAE to provide regular education and training to around 1 million doctors, physicians, pharmacists, technicians, and other specialists in the medical and healthcare sector.
