UAE hits highest rate of Covid-19 vaccine distribution, aims to inoculate over half of its population by March

On Sunday, UAE commended the efforts undertaken by government authorities for achieving the highest rate of Covid-19 vaccine distribution. On January17, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) took to Twitter and wrote: “Today, we announce that UAE has achieved the highest rate of COVID-19 vaccine doses distribution for medically eligible groups who meet all requirements with a rate of 24.58 doses per 100 people, since the launch of the vaccine national campaign”.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention announced that the Arab country gave 131,939 doses of the COVID-9 vaccine in the past 24 hours, taking the total count of vaccine provided till date to 1,797,926. As per the current count, the nation’s rate of vaccine distribution reached 18.18 doses per 100 people.

UAE, which has been running free Covid-19 vaccination drives, has aimed to inoculate more than half its population by March. As a consequence of its extensive vaccination campaign UAE became the world’s second-fastest Covid-19 dose providing nation. The country with population of 9.9 million, has already provided 1.7 million doses, which is four times higher than the rate of vaccination in US.

The Arab nation believed that with high rate of vaccine roll out, it would be able to successfully reverse the recent surge in the number of corona virus infections. Besides, many observers believe that it was also UAE’s way to keep its economy open, avoiding any lock downs or closures in near future, which already marred global economy.
