UAE authorities warn against violating COVID-19 safety measures

The Federal Emergency Crisis and Disasters Prosecution has warned the public against spreading rumours and false information about safety measures and guidelines in the ongoing national fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. UAE authorities are continuously ensuring strict compliance with COVID-19 safety measures to enhance the health and wellbeing of all community members and curb the spread of the pandemic.

A statement issued by the prosecution highlighted that photos and videos are circulating across social media platforms from various sources. These photos and videos are accompanied by comments and songs mocking the precautionary measures and demanding people to violate the protocols. The prosecution underlined that flouting the COVID-19 safety protocols will threaten the national efforts to combat the spread of the pandemic.

"We, therefore, call upon members of the community to refrain from this behaviour, which is punishable by the law," the statement added.

It further noted that any actions against precautionary measures are punishable with administrative sanctions or in accordance with the penal sanction as defined by the Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on combatting rumors and cybercrimes.

In conclusion, the prosecution called on all community members and social media users to act responsibly while sharing information about COVID-19 safety measures and other developments related to the pandemic. It also stressed the importance of all community members following the safety measures to support the national efforts against the pandemic.
