The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) on Tuesday announced that the Al Hosn App has been upgraded as the national COVID-19 vaccine registry in the UAE. The official integrated digital platform for Coronavirus testing in the UAE, the app consists of all data and information related to COVID-19 vaccine doses that have been administered to the public so far and the availability of doses at various vaccination centres across the nation. It also provides information related to COVID-19 tests conducted along with the number of positive cases, recoveries, and fatalities.

The authority announced the initiative with the aim of officially documenting all data and information related to the national vaccination campaign in the country. As per reports, data and information available on the Al Hosn app are certified official documents. Vaccinated citizens and residents can download the relevant documents that prove that they have received the COVID-19 vaccine. UAE population can also receive and check their COVID-19 test results on their smartphones through the Al Hosn app.

Significantly, a total of 103,156 COVID-19 vaccine doses were given by the UAE healthcare sector in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 7,477,881, at a rate of 75.61 doses per 100 persons.

Speaking over the development, Dr Farida Al Hosani, the official spokesperson for the health sector in the UAE, asserted that the country has embraced a preemptive approach in handling crises. She added that the UAE was among the first countries that offered free COVID-19 vaccines to all citizens and residents. She further noted that the health authorities in the country are fully aware of the COVID-19 situation across the world and emerging new variants of the virus. In this regard, a national team was established to monitor the latest developments and monitor the situation in terms of the mutated versions of COVID-19, Dr. Al Hosani added.

According to researchers, the mutated variants spread faster and are more infectious than the original virus, but so far they do not appear more dangerous or lead to an increased mortality rate.

Dr. Al Hosani affirmed that the national vaccination campaign continues across the country and the health authorities are taking all procedures to ensure that all people get vaccinated. The authorities have also urged people above the age of 16 to take the vaccine in order to protect themselves, their families, and society against the COVID-19 virus.
