‘The Big Heart Foundation' grants US$500,000 to help Covid-19 affected refugees in five nations

Big Heart gives $500,000 to curb impact of virus among refugees

Sharjah-based global humanitarian NGO, The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), has announced the allowance of US$500,000 to support medical and healthcare facilities in regions having internally displaced people (IDP) and refugees in Palestine, Jordan, Bangladesh, Lebanon, and Kenya, The Gulf Today reported.

In April 2020, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, spouse of His Highness The Ruler of Sharjah, UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, and Chairperson of The Big Heart Foundation decided to express cooperation and solidarity over the significant socio-economic and health concerns of displaced people over these five countries under TBHF's coronavirus response money-raising drive ‘Support Knows No Safe Distance’.

The sum amount has been raised via charitable donations made by organizations and people worldwide. Most prominently by the UAE-based sustainability pioneer Bee' ah, Sharjah Media City (SHAMS), Sharjah National Oil Cooperation, Sharjah COOP, and Sharjah Airport.

TBHF campaign aims to help relieve refugee settlements from the aftermath of the pandemic and monitor the current health conditions across various refugee areas and IDP areas around the globe.

With composed help from its key accomplices in these countries, TBHF has equipped resources and organized activities to help programs in creating educational awareness, (WASH) water, sanitation, and hygiene. Every organization will get an aggregate of $100,000 each to address the needs of refugees in these five nations.

The TBHF has provided food supplies to 660 families and around 1000 people affected by the coronavirus pandemic, in the UAE.

TBHF's coronavirus campaign in Bangladesh with UK's non-profit Penny Appeal aims to provide medical and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) supplies to help improve public health in the Rohingya refugee area and communities near Cox’s Bazar.

With the Big Heart aid, Lebanon will be able to help 1,000 refugee children and their families fight the Covid-19 and its aftermaths with the support of Save the Children Foundation.
